It can be a little stressful when the platform you always use suddenly stops working. The good news is that the PolicyStreet and other official JPJ channels are still open. This guide explains what has changed, where to go instead, and what is still unclear.
Note: This article covers the MyEG suspension and your road tax renewal options only. For a full explanation of how road tax works and how much it costs, see our complete road tax renewal guide.

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) announced on 2 October 2026 that it is suspending MyEG and Zetrix AI as its collection agents. The suspension takes effect from 12:01am on Monday, 5 October 2026.
What matters for most drivers is simple: the MyEG route for JPJ services is closed for now, but PolicyStreet and the official JPJ channels are still open.
Following the suspension, these JPJ services are no longer available through MyEG from 5 October 2026:
Road tax renewal
Driving licence renewal
Competent driving licence (CDL) renewal
Learner driving licence (LDL) application
Summons check and payment
Vehicle ownership transfer
New KPP01 computer test bookings
If you’re renewing your car insurance, the easiest option is to renew your road tax at the same time at checkout on PolicyStreet.
PolicyStreet’s road tax option was briefly affected by the MyEG suspension, but it’s not back. You can renew your road tax together with your car insurance as usual. Just make sure your car insurance is up to date first, since JPJ requires valid car insurance for the road tax renewal period.
If you haven’t renewed your car insurance yet, this is a good time to compare quotes on PolicyStreet — Save Kaw Kaw is currently running, with up to RM370 off your car insurance and road tax when you purchase Drive+ at checkout.
Notice: Please be informed that road tax renewal may take 3–5 working days due to the temporary suspension of JPJ services through MYEG. We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding.
If you ordered road tax through PolicyStreet before 5 October 2026, that order will still be honoured and facilitated.
For full terms, please refer to our Terms and Conditions page.
If you’re not renewing your car insurance at the same time, here’s where else you can go. Which one you use depends on your preference and vehicle type.
MyJPJ is JPJ’s official app, and it is one of the road tax renewal channels you can opt for after the MyEG suspension. However, this app can only be used for Malaysians (via MyDigital ID) and permanent residents (PR) in Malaysia.
If you are a private car owner who prefers to opt out of MyDigital ID, you can also renew road tax through:
The JPJ public portal
JPJ kiosks
JPJ counters
JPJ mobile counters
Post offices
Puspakom
If your last road tax has expired more than three years ago, you also need a vehicle inspection (Puspakom or PG10) before JPJ will renew it.
See what types of car inspection still requires Puspakom in our guide.
E-hailing vehicles can use the MyJPJ app and the JPJ portal. Commercial vehicles can use JPJ mobile counters. Kiosks and post offices are listed for private vehicles only.
You can check and pay JPJ summonses through:
The MyJPJ app
The JPJ public portal
JPJ counters
JPJ kiosks
JPJ mobile counters
If you’d rather pay less to begin with, our guide on Malaysia’s “pay early, pay less” traffic summons system explains how paying within 15 days can cut your compound by up to 50%.
For non-Malaysians paying summonses at the Malaysia-Singapore border, JPJ mobile units will operate at Sultan Abu Bakar Complex and Bangunan Sultan Iskandar in Johor, from 8am to 10pm.
If you need to renew your driving licence, you can use the MyJPJ app, the JPJ public portal, JPJ counters, kiosks, mobile counters, and post offices for driving licence renewal. If your licence is close to expiry, do not wait until the last week, as counters can be busy in the first days after a platform change.
The KPP01 (computerised Highway Code test) bookings made through MyEG before 5 October 2026 will still be honoured. New bookings must be made directly through driving institute test centres.
Road tax renewals completed through MyEG before 5 October are still recognised and honoured. However if you still have concerns, here’s what you can do now:
Check your road tax status in the MyJPJ app or the JPJ portal.
Keep your payment receipt and email confirmation from MyEG.
If the status does not show as renewed, contact JPJ at 03-8000 8000.
Check when your road tax, driving licence, and car insurance expire.
Renew your car insurance through PolicyStreet first if it is about to lapse (and bundle it with your road tax).
Keep your confirmation and check the status updates in the MyJPJ app or portal.
The MyEG suspension changes where you renew, not what you need to renew. Always keep an eye on your road tax, driving licence, and car insurance expiry dates so that your car remains road-legal.
If your car insurance is coming up for renewal, you can compare quotes on PolicyStreet and renew your road tax at the same time at checkout. Our Save Kaw Kaw discount is currently running, with up to RM370 off your total payable if you select Drive+ at checkout.
Drive+ members get added perks like road tax discount, roadside assistance, and priority claims support, so you’re covered beyond just the policy itself. See the full terms for Drive+ membership tiers and vouchers on our Terms & Conditions page.
Renew your car insurance now, bundle your road tax, and consider Drive+ for extra peace of mind.
No. JPJ has suspended MyEG and Zetrix AI as its collection agents from 5 October 2026, so road tax, driving licence, and summons services are no longer available through MyEG.
If you haven’t renewed your car insurance yet, you can renew both with PolicyStreet at the same time. For private cars, you can also renew at the MyJPJ app, the JPJ portal, kiosks, counters, mobile counters, post offices, and Puspakom. E-hailing vehicles can use the MyJPJ app and the portal. Commercial vehicles can use JPJ mobile counters.
Road tax renewals done through MyEG before 5 October 2026 will still be honoured, but you can check your status in the MyJPJ app or JPJ portal and keep your receipt.
You can use the MyJPJ app, the JPJ portal, JPJ counters, kiosks, or mobile counters. Non-Malaysians at the Johor border can pay at JPJ mobile units from 8am to 10pm.
Yes, JPJ lists both channels, together with the JPJ portal, counters, kiosks, and mobile counters.
You can check your vehicle’s status in the MyJPJ app or on the JPJ portal.
Driving with expired road tax is an offence, and JPJ has been running enforcement operations for expired road tax. Make your renewal as soon as you can.
You can renew your road tax together with your car insurance on PolicyStreet as usual, and add Drive+ for extra perks like roadside assistance if you’d like. If you ordered road tax through PolicyStreet before 5 October 2026, that order will still be honoured and facilitated.
