Compensation for Assessed Repair Time (CART) Malaysia | Car Insurance Add-On

When your car is at the workshop, your life doesn't stop. Most drivers think they can just claim Grab receipts from the insurer later, however this is rarely the case. To be truly reliable, we recommend the CART (Compensation for Assessed Repair Time) add-on.

It’s Science, Not a Stopwatch

The "Assessed" in CART is key. Payouts are based on the PIAM (General Insurance Association of Malaysia) Scale of Assessed Repair Time. This is a standardized industry table that dictates how many days a specific repair should take.

Scenario: If your bumper takes 3 days to fix according to the scale, but the workshop takes 10 days because they are busy, the insurer only pays for 3 days.

2026 "Repairers Code of Conduct"

The industry now follows stricter standards for smash repairs. This ensures your car is fixed correctly, but it also means adjusters are more precise with CART payouts. Choosing a daily rate of RM100 or RM200 can be the difference between a stressful commute and a seamless one.

Drive+ : More Than Just Insurance

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How do I claim CART?

You claim it as part of your "Own Damage" claim. The insurance company will calculate the payout based on the adjuster's report and send the money directly to you.

  1. Can I get a CART if the other person hit me?

Yes. If you are not at fault, you can claim "Loss of Use" from the other party’s insurance. Having the CART add-on just makes the process smoother for your own insurer to handle.

  1. Is there a limit to how many days CART covers?

Yes, usually policies cover 7, 14, or 21 days per year. Check your policy schedule for your specific limit.

  1. Is CART the same as a rental car benefit?

No. CART provides a cash payout, whereas a rental car benefit provides a physical vehicle. Cash is often more flexible for modern commuters using e-hailing.

The benefit(s) payable under eligible certificate/policy/product is(are) protected by PIDM up to limits. Please refer to PIDM’s TIPS Brochure or contact Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Berhad or PIDM (visit www.pidm.gov.my).
